Plaque-boucle mérovingienne

Plaque-boucle is an archaic term that refers to the closure mechanism of a belt or girdle during the Merovingian era. It consists of a plaque and a buckle with an ardillon fastener. This bronze plaque with a loop was produced through molding. Its etched surface, made from tin, gives it a shiny and silver appearance, mimicking the effect of rarer plates covered in a layer of silver. The engraved decoration at its tip is particularly elaborate. Inventory number: MR 1964.1.799, sourced from the collections of the Royan Museum (17 - France). Three-dimensional scanning: Spider-Artec3D scanner.
