The alteration was made to use Comply Foam Ear Tips for complete Sound Isolation. With these ear tips, your headset has great sound from the default ear piece and the comfort of a gentle ear piece that won't hurt. As a bonus, it's perfect for those allergic to silicone. If you don't have a printer, just use an online service to print these adapters; mine were made in Black Hi-Def Acrylate. This is the final version, but you still need the o-ring from the original ear tips or make one with a 3D printer since you get three with the headset - just use those.
