'plantation blind ' / shutter / window shade - holder / connector piece

My sister's vertical blinds have malfunctioning holding parts. Her son informed her they were around ten dollars for a pair online. Having become familiar with the task, I suggested letting me take a closer look at one and give it a try. Here is the preliminary draft. The blind features a horizontal slat which holds these small components in place. A tiny rod connects the other end to each blind, but this combination proves challenging when an excited child attempts to gaze out. ---UPDATE: The sixth version features an additional slot for insertion and a flange on the top for connection. My brother noticed that previous versions had issues inserting the parts properly, suggesting manual cutting might be necessary. UPGRADE: In the 6-24 edition, the bottom of the blind now has a complete slot requiring less platform support. UPDATE: This July several modifications were implemented in some details. Still working on a final version. Initially this was viewed as a casual project, but recently I took calipers to accurately measure most of a broken original for further improvement.
