Plant support strap for PLA
prusaprinters

Updated 2020-09-05: Created a 80mm in length version, as the 130mm seemed a bit long in many cases.
Reflections at the end of summer of 2020: This strap have helped my tomato plants grow all the way to the sealing. I then moved them outside and the straps mostly held up even through storms. I think i had like 3 straps break out of about 20.
I think most straps will be reusable next year but we will see. They might be to brittle at that point, with all the sunlight and moisture but hey, then i just print some more! :)

A basic strap for supporting plants while they are growing, like tomato plants or bean plants.

The strap length is 130 mm. When the ends are connected that translates to a circle with diameter of about 38 mm.

The design is 0.2 mm high. I found this height to be the best for our tomato plants because it gave the most flexibility while still being strong enough. If you live in windy area you might want to scale the print up to 0.4 mm in height or even 0.6 mm in the slicer. I don't recommend above 0.6 layer height, because the print will be too stiff and begin to break when bent.

Print instructions

Print at 0.2 layerheight with PLA.
I used 4 perimeters and it worked well.
