Plant Support Clip

Plant Support Clip

thingiverse

I plant clip(s) for small seedlings, like my tomato plants. The young seedlings need support until they're strong enough to stand on their own. Two versions are shown with corresponding STL files. Version 1 is top-notch. It uses a metal spring, which costs £0.36 each when buying 30 at a time. This includes the spring, screw, and PLA printed parts. Version 2 is more affordable. It also uses a screw but only PLA printed parts, costing £0.14 for 30 units. The spring version is more durable and provides better grip on the support stick. The other all-in-one version utilizes a "leaf spring," which works fine, but I'm concerned that it might lose its spring over time due to long-term use. Nylon might be a better material for this design, but that's untested. Black material would likely resist UV degradation better than my chosen orange color. You can find the necessary screws and springs at these links: * Spring: 0.6mm wire diameter, 4mm OD, 15mm long * Screws: M2 x 3 button head hexagon socket https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10pcs-Small-Spring-Compression-Spring-Steel-Wire-Dia-0-6mm-0-7mm-Length-5-50mm/401368520184?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=670990936935&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M2-M2-5-M3-M4-STAINLESS-HEX-SOCKET-BUTTON-HEAD-ALLEN-BOLTS-SCREWS-SCREW-ISO7380/321231104609?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=510170340562&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 Just remember, don't let the plant stem get too big or you won't be able to remove the clips without undoing the screw and taking them apart.
