Plant pot / net cup for hydroponics (height adjustable)

A height-adjustable hydroponics plant pot designed with 3D printing in mind. Functional animated model: https://youtu.be/25kdrOJL2qk Video of 3D printed model: https://youtu.be/o7cS7ppLwtg I created this design primarily because net cups for hydroponics available where I live are relatively expensive and do not allow me to use whatever medium I want due to the hole sizes. This design should block out light, keep the medium in place even with roots growing between them, allow for aeration and water uptake. The design also features a large lip to keep the pot/cup in place so it accommodates a wide range of hole sizes. The benefits of having an adjustable-height pot include being able to provide roots with more oxygen or access to water, especially when using a Kratky system. Adjusting the height can be a significant advantage and may even prevent plants from dying due to lack of either water or oxygen. If you're new to hydroponics, I recommend reading up on it as it is a fascinating subject that deserves more attention. It can be a relatively forgiving way to grow plants if done correctly and has many advantages over traditional soil-based growing methods. Design specifics: - The threads have been scaled up 1.8% to account for inaccuracies in 3D printing (I have test-printed extensively to find the correct margin) - You choose your own growing medium, with the holes sized so even media like clay pellets are held securely in place - Ability to adjust the height of the pot - Easy to print on any printer, with minimal overhangs If you're growing leafy greens, herbs, etc., I recommend using PLA when printing. While PLA can warp or melt in direct sunlight, it is generally more food-safe than many other plastics and will not leach any harmful chemicals.
