Plank Clamp for CNC

Plank Clamp for CNC

thingiverse

These are a set of simple clamps specifically designed for CNC milling, particularly suited for planks of wood. They feature 10cm hole separation and M6 bolts, with adjustable design allowing them to clamp any width of wood. Two types of clamps are listed: Face Clamps and Side Clamps. The Face Clamps provide support across the width of the plank. Larger clamps sit next to the milling space as shown in pictures. They have screw holes on the plate for holding along the wood lengthways, using short screws due to their proximity to the milling area. A pillar and mini clamp ensure the wood is straight by holding the other end of the plank. The Side Clamps use longer screws to anchor the wood lengthways, preventing movement. While not always necessary, they provide additional support when used with Face Clamps, which sit away from the milling space. To hold the workpiece vertically, a separate clamp is required, as seen in the pictures provided. The green clamp used can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:714881. Side clamps may be unnecessary for most cuts since Face Clamps seem to provide adequate support. This was demonstrated through aggressive cuts made without side clamps, as shown in videos available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/NVmd4ZrusKk and https://youtu.be/unoR_Fej0Zw. These designs were created using the ScrewsMetric library for OpenSCAD: https://github.com/More-Wrong/ScrewsMetric.
