Planetary Wobble Teeth Gear
thingiverse
This innovative epicyclic gear features a unique tooth shape that enhances precision during 3D printing. The design is inspired by the improved stress distribution in teeth resembling bone structures. Parameters such as tooth width, height and planet quantity can be easily modified. Initially, the planet holes were set for regular skate bearings; however, this is an untested design. Updates include fixing misaligned gears, resolving a turning-point polygon issue, overcoming compilation challenges, and correcting calculation errors in planet rotation and orientation. However, further work is needed to address issues with sun gear tolerances, and the possibility of printing individual gears for improved fit. The model is compiled using a .dxf file generation followed by extrusion into a 3D .stl file. It's printable without support and currently set up with 20:40:100 teeth for a 6:1 ratio. Adjustments to tooth quantity/dimension may require gear alignment adjustments in multiples of alpha, and the tolerance has been increased to 0.4 due to previous issues at 0.2.
