Planetary geared bowden extruder

Planetary geared bowden extruder

thingiverse

A typical planetary gearbox Bowden-style extruder features an access hole for clearing debris without filament removal, aligned parallel to the filament path. An 8mm "bottle brush" works well for this purpose. However, note that this design is a work in progress, as the grubscrew connecting the filament drive to the gearbox output shaft tends to loosen after about 20 hours of use, which may compromise its performance on lengthy jobs requiring 48 hours or more. The extruder incorporates a NEMA17 motor with a 5:1 planetary gearbox, both readily available for printing the body and yoke with a 25% infill.
