Planetary Gear Scotch Yoke Light Switch

Planetary Gear Scotch Yoke Light Switch

I found my wall light switches too bland, too straightforward, and utterly unexciting. That won't cut it! I needed something more complex, something that would bring a sense of fun into the mix. This attachment fits right on top of your existing wall switch cover without any issues. You'll need some 5mm or slightly smaller equivalent stainless steel hollow tubes to get started. Fortunately, I had a collection of these just lying around, and I used them for this project. To hold everything in place, I applied a bit of gorilla glue. It does the trick! Before assembling the gear system, you'll need to print three specific parts: Healical Gear (16L@30.00).stl. Make sure you have these printed out before moving forward. Only one part requires support during printing: yoke.stl. Be sure to take note of this for a smoother printing process. To assemble the gear system, start by combining the Ring, planets, and sun gear using brute force and manual dexterity. Do this before attaching them to the snap-fit posts. The gears are helical in design, so it may require some effort to manipulate them after they're attached, but it's still doable – albeit a bit more challenging than anticipated.
