Planetary Gear Piston
thingiverse
A unique desktop gadget, this single planetary gear features a piston attached to its point via a paper clip shaft. With a gear ratio of 1:2, it generates linear motion along the shell's diameter. Although redesign is possible, it works well currently. A printed version was given away without photos; new images will be posted upon reprinting. On June 5th, vertices were fixed and the crankshaft shortened. Updated files are available for download. Initially, there was no connection between the gear's end and the con-rod. A paper clip was melted to fix this issue. Replacement of the printed shaft with two course counter sunk computer screws enhanced functionality. Instructions for assembly are provided.
