6/20/2018 - Released version 3 with improvements for strength. The release tab now spans wider, allowing for better stability when printing flat on its back during slicing in Cura. This adjustment has resulted in fewer issues with overhangs. 6/12/2018 - After multiple print cycles, my release tab snapped off. To prevent this from happening again, I will increase the thickness of the tab in OpenSCAD and adjust print settings to improve layer adhesion. Additionally, I plan to install flush mount bolts, reducing flexing when turning the light on and off. This project has been a valuable learning experience for me, particularly with OpenSCAD. The designer's generosity in sharing the file is greatly appreciated. I modified the design to accommodate 50mm bolt holes on my Tubus rack, allowing me to move my Planet Bike light from the seatpost to the rack. However, my initial print was not secure due to a loose tongue and small release tab, resulting in multiple instances of the light bouncing out during testing. After extensive remix testing, I am pleased to report that there is no longer any danger of the light coming loose. I highly recommend using flush mount bolts for easier on/off functionality. For future releases: Although this design is functional, I aspire to create a model that matches my rack's aesthetic while maintaining some level of functionality. I intend to continue learning OpenSCAD and release a "form over function" design that prints well but may be slightly less practical than the original.
