Plane Curves as Mobiles
thingiverse
Explore a variety of three-dimensional hypocycloids, similar to epicycloids featured in model 217201 - Epicycloids as Mobils. These curves are closely related, with a parameter change transforming an epicycloid into a hypocycloid. Hypocycloids can possess multiple cusps, such as a deltoid with three or an astroid with four. Additional cusp numbers are possible, while a circle emerges as the number of cusps approaches infinity. STL files provided include deltoid_mark_1.stl, astroid_mark_2.stl, hypocycloid_mark_3.stl to hypocycloid_mark_6.stl. The openSCAD code allows for customization between epicycloids and hypocycloids, along with single-sided or double-sided models. Single-sided prints can be directly placed on the build surface, while images depict glued together single-sided prints to showcase the design.
