It's a basic poly version of the mask that has some good questions according to the story: A doctor specializing in plagues was a medical professional who treated victims of the plague. They were hired specifically by cities with many plague cases during epidemics, and since they were paid by the city, they treated both rich and poor people equally. However, some doctors in this field charged extra for special treatments or false cures to their patients and families. These doctors usually weren't well-trained physicians or surgeons; often, they were inexperienced doctors who couldn't run a successful business on their own or young doctors trying to establish themselves. They rarely cured their patients, instead keeping track of the number of people infected for demographic purposes. Plague doctors treated plague patients by contract and were known as municipal or "community plague doctors", while separate doctors were called "general practitioners". Both types of doctors could be in the same city at the same time. In France and the Netherlands, these doctors often lacked medical training and were referred to as "empirics". One doctor even used to sell fruit before becoming a physician.
