PLActron vase delta
thingiverse
This beautiful vase was crafted by a joyful mistake while tinkering in openscad. As happy as I am now, I'd love to share it with you... UPDATE 5th October 2017 Version 3 is live. This edition should be perfectly proportioned (200mm Height). The design of this vase is inspired by a custom-made guitar pick/plectrum (PLActron - the customizable & biodegradable guitar pick), which was rotated 240 degrees around the z-axis and extruded along a sine in z. Cleverly influenced by: Thing 16378 - another amazing vase Thing 745938 - PLActron (yet unpublished) Alle Achtung - gravity's got game Instructions This model is sized to be printed with 20cm height, which should fit most printers and any flowers you want to show it off with. You can download not one, but three different versions of this vase. While the smallest with 32 segments adds some intriguing geometry, the 500seg is the way to go if you prefer a smooth shape. If you're still unsure, try the 100seg-version. EDIT 2018-04-15: I've removed the 32 and 500seg versions because they were out of scale and made little difference compared to the new default 100seg Version. Slicing suggestions for Cura 15.02.1 Standard config Print Speed: 42mm/s, yes, this is crucial Layer Height: 0.1 mm Shell Thickness: 0.8mm Retraction off Bottom/Top Thickness 1.1mm Fill Density: 0% No Support, No Platform adhesion Expert config; Section Infill: uncheck "Solid infill top" Section Black Magic: check "Spiralize the outer contour" Printing time with these settings on an Ultimaker 2 is under six hours This model is quite easy to print, no overhangs and no complex details, you could print it in 0.3mm layers without much hesitation. If you experience problems getting this vase watertight, try increasing the values for Shell Thickness and/or Bottom Thickness. You could also experiment by setting the Shell Thickness to a non-multiple of your Nozzle Size, so the Outer Walls overlap.
