PLA Cooling Fan Mount - FlashForge and Powerspec
thingiverse
I took muckychris' design and completely revamped it from scratch. My printed version of his object was unable to fit snugly onto my Powerspec 3D Pro / FlashForge Creator / Creator Pro printer, as the screw did not align properly and the length of the top piece was too short for my liking. I also found the fan grills to be a hassle due to increased print difficulty. Given that my tolerances are stricter, designed specifically to reduce the vibrations caused by fans, I opted for tighter spacing inside the mount, resulting in fewer overall vibrations. To boost airflow coverage, I subtly adjusted the tilt to 10 degrees. If you lack cooling systems, printing with supports is inevitable; most likely, it will fail without them in place. If your printer's cooling is up to par, you might manage with only supports for the top piece. In my experience, as showcased in the gallery, mis-calibration led to the left side of the print getting slightly damaged during my initial run. Consequently, I'm now re-printing this part. On another note, I've encountered an issue where uploading the STL file causes it to appear rotated; please make sure to orient the print with the bracket / screw thread facing upwards. Instructions: Import your chosen 3D model into your favorite slicer (Simplify3d was my tool of choice). Be certain to incorporate suitable supports if cooling systems are absent, and even then it's advisable for some spots. Print the item. Attach it to the top center of your printer using existing screws as illustrated in the gallery. Two 80mm x 25mm case fans from your preferred store (I shopped at microcenter) will be required. Use a 12V AC to DC adapter, connecting the fans in parallel for optimal airflow. This setup promises remarkable improvements to your prints.
