Pizza Cutter Guard
thingiverse
I was on the hunt for something to slice through bread dough strips for homemade breadsticks when I stumbled upon this "pizza cutter" at Walmart, priced at an unbeatable 88 cents. How could anyone pass up a deal like that? Of course, the razor-sharp blade was wobbling all over the place, so I took it apart and removed the rivet to give it a good cleaning and straightening out. No more sloppy cutting for me! All it needed was a protective guard to keep everything in line. The design of this guard has a deep cavity that's inaccessible from the outside, which made it a challenge to print. To get around this, I printed it vertically as oriented, and used fan cooling to prevent overheating. No burnt or warped parts for me! The rivet's head acts as a secure fastener to hold the guard in place. The blade itself has a 70mm diameter, making it perfect for slicing through thick dough. I used 20 grams of ABS plastic for this project and printed it on my trusty Afinia H479 at a speed that took about an hour. I opted for .30mm layers and a medium print speed to ensure the highest quality finish. To prevent warping, I added a raft to the design. For those who prefer metric measurements, don't worry – a downloadable Metric file is available on request.
