Pixel Drilling Template - 3/4" J Channel
thingiverse
I created this setup for drilling Certainteed 3/4" pocket J channel to accommodate rgb pixels for exterior holiday lighting. The 75mm spacing between pixels, which I've found works well with the Alitove WS2811 RGB's from Amazon, has been effective. There is a little locator nub on the drill that helps align with previous holes as you slide it along the channel. This one performs much better than my first attempt because it captures the J-channel to keep it from moving around excessively. Menards' J-channel sku: 1481833 Model # 5030301 I purchased Alitove WS2811 RGB's from Amazon, product number B01AG923EU. A 50 LED string takes up a 10' stick of channel almost perfectly. I typically trim a couple inches from one end to make the spacing work well on my house. Use a 15/32" or 31/64” (preferably) drill bit for a satisfying snap fit that won't damage your fingers too badly.
