PIXAR's Luxo Jr.
thingiverse
This replica of Pixar's famous mascot is an exact 1:1 scale model, based on digital data from the source itself. The bulb is made of vacuum-formed polystyrene and illuminated by four super bright LEDs powered by a CR2032 battery. Files were obtained from Google Sketchup's library, then split into components, converted to STL format, and 3D printed at Tech Shop. For a detailed guide, check out the instructable posted at http://www.instructables.com/id/Luxo-Jr-Revisited/. The head attaches to two neck joints, which connect to the neck rods. The top rod has pegs at the end, while the bottom rod has a central peg; these attach to the hip joints. Hip joints also connect to an H-Rod and Leg piece. These pieces all connect to the waist joint and base. Springs from OSH attach the hip joints to neck joints, and the H-Rod to the waist joint for added movement. A STL file for the lightbulb is available for 3D printing, but a vacuum former was used for a glossy finish on this model.
