PIXAR's Luxo Jr.
pinshape
This is my 1:1 scale replica of PIXAR's own iconic mascot, built exactly on model with reference from PIXAR's own digital data. The replica includes Luxo Jr., a short character, with its bulb made of vacuum formed polystyrene and lit by four super bright LEDs powered by one CR2032 battery. I obtained the files from Jon at Google Sketchup, where I split up the entire components and converted everything to .STL format before having it 3D printed at Tech Shop. For a more in-depth guide, check out my instructable at http://www.instructables.com/id/Luxo-Jr-Revisited/. The head attaches to two neck joints, which then connect to the neck rods. The rod with pegs at the end is on top, while the pegs with one in the middle are on the bottom, attaching to the hip joints, which then attach to the H-Rod and Leg piece. These pieces connect to the waist joint, which then attaches to the base. Small springs from OSH attach the hip joint to the neck joints and the H-Rod to the Waist Joint. UPDATE: I have uploaded the STL file for the lightbulb for 3D printing, but I achieved a glossy finish on mine by using a vacuum former instead.
