Pittsfield Building in Chicago, Illinois
myminifactory
A slender skyscraper that reaches 38 stories without overwhelming the viewer. Its sleek lateral flanks allow it to reach its full height on a small footprint, avoiding an awkward appearance. The setbacks were mandated by the city of Chicago to preserve what little sunlight was filtering down to street level through the growing forest of skyscrapers and the thick haze that became common in industrialized 20th century Chicago.
