Piston Pen Holder
prusaprinters
A few months ago I rebuilt a golf cart motor for a friend, and as a result of that, I had this old piston just laying around. I threw a few pens in it, but it really wasn't a good pen holder. So, I got the bright idea to model it in Fusion 360, and make a few modifications to make a decent pen holder out of it. It turned out pretty well....I designed it so that you can choose how you want to use it. You can print out the version with holes in the top of the piston, and use it in the upright position, or print out the solid top piston, with the insert, and use it in the upside down position. The latter being my preference. You could also print out the version with the holes in the top, and the insert then use it either way you want.Print SettingsPrinter brand:CrealityPrinter:CR-10Rafts:NoSupports:NoResolution:.2Infill:15Filament brand:ParamountFilament color:RedFilament material:ABSNotes:I printed this with a nozzle temperature of 235 C, and a bed temperature of 100 C. I also chose the "user selectable" option for the seam, and put my preference to the left side in Cura. I then oriented the piston pin hole toward the front. This made for a very nice and straight seam in the side without getting a lot of (any, in this case) zits. The Paramount filament prints incredibly well at these settings. The best ABS material I have tried to date. It's almost like cheating. That being said, my CR-10 is in an enclosure. But, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if you could print this stuff without an enclosure.
