Piston-cylinder test
thingiverse
I wanted to develop a tone-generator by making a piston move up and down on a crankshaft. However, after moving the piston through the cylinder as a test, I realized this method would produce too much friction noise in addition to the desired tone sound. I've thought of an alternative approach for the tone-generator that I'll create next. I uploaded it here anyway for archiving purposes. If anyone wants to continue this project, feel free to do so. In addition to creating a petrol-engine (which will probably only fire three times before melting the PLA), you can also make a waterpump of it or something else innovative. Critical parts still need to be made: crankshaft & piston rings (in case you use it for liquid or gas). Print Settings: Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: Print the cylinder and piston on their sides, and ensure the printer draws straight lines in the length of both. Otherwise, you will get 3D printing 'bumps' perpendicular to the piston motion which will create a lot of noise and friction. I understand the STL file has three objects in it, making it difficult to change the orientation properly, but that's the way it is.
With this file you will be able to print Piston-cylinder test with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Piston-cylinder test.
