This bullet mold for making pistol shot was discovered in a 20th-century garden feature that had been disturbed at James Madison's historic home, Montpelier. Yet, this garden feature was originally installed in a 19th-century blacksmith shop run by one of James Madison's enslaved workers and is linked to that person. The photo is courtesy of the Montpelier estate.
