Pistol Grip Mustang Shift Knob
pinshape
I made this knob after my last attempt at creating a Hurst Shifter styled knob failed due to its lack of comfort. I decided on a vertical design inspired by Ken Block's E-Brake lever from his Gymkhana videos. The current model has the nut held in place with screws, but I prefer using epoxy as seen in my Mustang's version. That one has been holding up well so far, although it's only been installed for a week. I'd love to hear any suggestions you have for improving this design. Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Any setting will work fine Notes: The main piece should be printed with its long axis parallel to the print bed to ensure that shifting forces are perpendicular to the layers, reducing the risk of breakage. The pistol grip has two versions, one with a rib and another without, which I made in NinjaFlex to improve its surface finish. Post-Printing: If you choose to use the version with the rib, you'll need a sharp exacto knife to remove it. This can be a bit tricky but is definitely doable. Insert an M12-1.25 nut into the large hole at the bottom of the main piece and screw on the small bottom part using two nuts from McMaster-Carr (96068A159). You can also use ABS without holes and acetone weld them together. Next, thread a second M12-1.25 bolt with a nylon lock to the empty shift lever's threads, then screw the knob all the way down and adjust it for comfort before tightening the lower nut against the knob to secure it in place. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
