Pistol Grip Mustang Shift Knob
thingiverse
I created this knob following my previous attempt at making a Hurst Shifter styled knob. Unfortunately, that one wasn't very comfortable, so I made this one. I always admired how Ken Block featured that vertical lever for his E-Brake in his Gymkhana videos, so I decided to design a vertical knob after all. In fact, I already have one installed in my Mustang, with the nut securely epoxied into place, rather than relying on screws like this new model does. But it's working fine so far - only been in there for a week or so. If you could print out a copy and share your thoughts, that would be great! Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: It doesn't really matter. Infill: The higher the infill, the better it is. Notes: When printing the main piece, it's crucial to orient its long axis parallel to the print bed. This ensures that when shifting force is applied, it acts perpendicular to the layers rather than in parallel - a position where it can easily break apart. To add to this issue, the pistol grip features two distinct surfaces: one file was designed using NinjaFlex, which required an added rib due to its propensity for rocking back and forth while the toolhead moves across it and ultimately produces a subpar surface finish. A second, support-less file is included without this rib for those who might prefer printing with harder materials.
