Pistol Brass Catcher
thingiverse
This is a brass catcher for pistols that have a picanny rail on the front. It was tested and designed on a Ruger Security 9, but it should work on any pistol of a similar size that has a piccany rail. It is also modular. For example, to get it to work on Glock 19 would probably only require the rail piece be redesigned with a Glock rail instead of a picanny rail. Then all the other pieces should work as-is, but I don't own a Glock and haven't tested it. To make it, print out the following pieces: - main_frame_ruger_sec9.stl - 1 piece - pin.stl - 2 pieces - connector.stl - 1 piece - rail.stl - 1 piece I think I printed the rail piece with 50% infill and the others with 30% infill, but that might have been overkill. 30% infill all-around would probably work. Some pieces could probably get away with less than that. Once the pieces are printed, you just need to make a bag of some sort. I cut a sleeve off of an old T-shirt, sewed the top around the frame, and sewed the bottom shut, but I'm sure there are other ways. You could probably zip-tie a bag to the frame if you wanted to. Assembly is pretty straightforward. The pin that connects the frame to the connector has to be inserted from the bottom due to the shape of the frame, so I recommend putting a small piece of a wire or something through the hole in the pin in order to keep it from walking out. That said, it hasn't even attempted to come out for me so far. I've included the OpenScad scripts for anyone who wants to make modifications. The main_frame_ruger_sec9.scad, pin.scad, connector.scad, and rail.scad files are self-explanatory. The picrail.scad file is used by the rail.scad file in order to create the piccany rail cutout. The idea is that picrail.scad will eventually be a library for use across projects, but for now it only has this one thing in it.
