Pistachio Bowl Mason Jar Top
thingiverse
Bowl for the top of a mason jar (smaller mason jar with 67mm top). Top holds about 2 servings of pistachios, all of the shells are kept in the jar for easy disposal. No idea what the actual threads are for a mason jar, so I took some measurements and slapped something together. The top screws on great to the 3 different brands of mason jars I have on hand. Printed with supports only touching build plate. Fusion360 file included per request. If you are concerned that this may not fit your jars or if your printer is capable; it may be a good idea to first do a thread test-print to ensure that it fits your mason jars. Then you can adjust tightness by increasing/decreasing the print by 1-2%. Test by printing with no supports and stop the print when it is about 10-12mm tall (just the thread portion of the model). This should print quick and not use much filament. Use that ring and test on your jar. Once you know it will work well, activate touching-build-plate supports, slice, and print the whole model. _________________________________________________________________ 1-9-22 Update Added 3 new versions per requests. - Wide mouth option. Which has the disposal opening ~4mm larger. - Smooth Side. Which just adds a visual fillet to the seam between the jar and bowl. This may also help people that experienced a weak junction at that transition. The original does not include this because I was trying to keep the model as light as possible so that the cup/bowl assembly is not top heavy (which was a problem on early development because the first design was meant for a plastic solo cup). - No support version. This version stays above 45degrees, so that most printers can create this without supports. The trade off is that this bowl holds much less. And I believe it is not as visually pleasing. In my opinion the one time use of supports was a small tradeoff for something that will be printed once and used for years. If I get some time I may make a 60-70degree version as an option for machines that can handle increased overhangs.
