The Pirello Mastodon's Vertebra Gets a Digital Makeover. On May 31st, 2018, the New York State Museum took to scanning this vertebra from the iconic Pirello mastodon in stunning 3D detail. What a fascinating sight it must have been! The museum specimen number is VP 93, and we're grateful for the courtesy of the New York State Museum for sharing it with us. This incredible object has been brought to life by the skilled hands at Virtual Curation Lab, who have scanned it into existence in all its digital glory.
