Pirate ship designed to act as a functional tape dispenser. Designed to be used alongside a pirate chest container: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1965152 . Gold model displayed in images above is scaled down. This design is meant for a role of tape to be inserted around a standard 3M tape dispenser core, which can be removed from any standard tape dispenser, along the alcoves in the hole between the two crow nests. The slit in the ramp-like feature at the front of the ship is designed to perfectly and securely fit the teeth of a standard tape dispenser when inserted (simply remove the teeth from any standard tape dispenser). See image #3 for clarification on usage. The assignment was to create a common school supply that fits a specific theme. My group decided to embrace the "pirate" theme and we created an awesome tape dispenser inside a pirate ship! Original plans based on combination of three inspiration images below: Project #4: Office Supply Storage Problem Statement: Recent analysis by the Staples finance department has concluded that sales for desktop organization products have declined in recent years. The company would like to ramp up their profits in this area by enhancing the aesthetic nature of these products. Your group of three has been hired to design a set of theme-based organizational products. Your team will design a set of office supplies that are tied together with a common theme. You must be able to justify the theme that connects the products together. The idea is that the customer will not want to buy just one; they will want to buy the whole set. OPTIONS: Pencil holder that can securely hold at least 5 pencils Expo marker holder than can securely hold at least 4 markers Pen holder that can securely hold at least 5 pens Tape dispenser that will hold and cut a roll of scotch tape Anything you can get approved by your project manager! Constraints: You will be constructing an actual size model of your product in Solidworks It should be cool to look at and unique - a conversation starter. An individual walking by would do a double take to more closely examine the amazingly interesting item you’ve created. There should be a theme that ties the products together It should have multiple extrusions for detail It should contain examples of ALL THREE main features: revolve, sweep, loft It takes advantage of the following: circular pattern, linear pattern, mirror It takes advantage of at least one of the following: filleting, chamfering Each piece should fit within a 10cm x 10 cm x 10cm cube Should be 3D printable Deliverables (Each of the following steps must be approved by me before moving to the next step): 3D and 2D sketches of your ideas (upload pictures) Description of theme (upload pictures or type a google doc) Planning for Solidworks “How-To” (Design Notebook) Use the pencil planning document as a template Landscape orientation Four columns: feature, sketch plane, sketch with dimensions, additional details for feature Solidworks: Actual size model of your product How to Guide: Make a “How-To” Guide for making your product in Solidworks References http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12856
