Summary I recently told my four-year-old daughter about the #MakeItFloat challenge. She expressed a strong interest in participating, but wanted to create a pirate ship instead. This is where our project stands currently. Instructions The first prototype was printed on an Up Plus using 0.2mm layer depth and loose fill. The final boat weighs 50 grams, however it does not float upright without additional ballast. I successfully floated 114 grams of Australian coins, but am working to improve the design for greater weight capacity. The hull prints with minimal support required, only needing support for the slide on the deck and holes for the railing to glue into place. Choose between two different hull files: Hull02nocham is a bare hull, whereas Hull03 features vertical barriers running along its length, which may provide more efficient storage compartments for coins and delay water flooding. The masts have holes for attaching sails, although they did not turn out as intended in the first prototype. The front spike also needs improvement. Support is necessary for printing the masts at 90 degrees to upright position. The deck requires support for the railing at the top, and surprisingly, the wheel printed well on my printer. The railing should be printed upside down to avoid support requirements.
