Pirate Hook

A three-piece "Pirate's Hook" is easily created using 123D Design from Autodesk. The hook section is split into two parts, designed to be glued together without requiring support. The hand cover or dome is best printed upside down to avoid the need for supports, making it a quick and efficient process. A thicker version (1.5mm) of the dome will also be uploaded to withstand rough handling like sword fights. After printing and gluing with five-minute epoxy, I lightly sanded the hook and painted it directly with acrylic paints that were readily available. My four-year-old son requested a pirate's hook one Sunday morning, inspired by Captain Hook from Peter Pan. The design was completed, printed, assembled, painted, and ready for play by mid-afternoon. So far, it has survived daily playtime for a week and even accompanies the little pirate to sleep, a huge success!
