For the past 30 years, Cessna 150/152 and Piper PA-28 Cherokee (later known as Warrior) have been the primary training aircraft. Debuting in early 1961, the low-wing PA-28 signified a significant shift for Piper. Its design has since served as the blueprint for numerous two-, four-, and six-place Piper singles and even some twins. The PA-28-161 Warrior II, certified in November 1976, is a four-seater fixed landing gear landplane; it differs from its predecessor PA-28-160 with a tapered wing design.
