Pipe plug

Pipe plug

thingiverse

A protective plug designed to securely fit inside a pipe with an interior diameter of 1 inch (25 mm). A 1/4-inch hex-head bolt is utilized to draw the opposing wedges together, expanding the plug in the process. This device safeguards a tarp that has been draped over the pipe-end, providing a secure seal against strong winds and turbulent conditions. A 70-mph windstorm can unleash unpredictable forces on this tarp, including severed bolts connecting the pipe hardware. To mitigate such occurrences, I opted for the plug-and-wedge design. Although a simple cap may seem like an adequate solution, it is unlikely to provide the necessary protection in high-wind situations. The provided STL files for 25 mm ID pipes and the accompanying SCAD code allow users to easily modify the design for various pipe diameters. Future updates might include a customizer feature for creating personalized plug-and-wedge combinations.
