Pipe Grip
thingiverse
This tool helps secure threaded collars onto the water intake hose of a compressor by tightening them together. Printing interlayer adhesion may be challenging due to high shear stress levels. The design might need a more flexible material than ABS, and further testing is necessary. A print suitability test can be conducted in several steps: First, apply force to one side of the "C" shape until the threads are offset by one full thread. Next, place it over the water intake hose and fit it into the interlocking threaded collars. The design was created by Ben Savonen in South Sudan for Field Ready as part of a collaboration with Water for South Sudan. Only one prototype has been printed so far, and no user feedback has been received yet, leaving its effectiveness uncertain at this time.
