pipe | cutting | jig

This is a precision clamping device for cutting conduit, rods, tubes and other cylindrical objects with exact accuracy. The goal is to achieve a precise cut by sliding the foot of the jigsaw along the guide rail. It's fully customizable (see attached drawing): * *pipe_diam* diameter of the object to be cut plus tolerance. A 26mm setting worked well for 25mm conduit, but that was a pretty loose fit. I also tried adding just half a millimeter: super tight, but difficult to change work pieces. * *angle* is set at 90 degrees for a straight cut. * *jig_width* is the distance from guide rail to the edge of the jig, which should match the distance from the edge of the jigsaw's foot to its blade -tolerance. I used a couple of millimeters of clearance: jig_width=32 for a distance of about 35. * *jig_depth* determines how deep the blade of the saw can run. It's better to have some clearance or cut over the edge of the workbench, like in the picture. * *jig_length* is the length of the ledger, which serves as the guide rail. A longer jig should allow for steadier cuts than shorter ones. * *bolt_diam* is the width of the slot in the rails, by which the jig can be attached to a workbench. * *wall* is the thickness of various components, such as the guide and the rail. The thicker the walls, the more robust the jig. * *slope* (uphill/downhill) controls the slope of the jig, with one being the mirror image of the other. Perhaps for left/right-handed users, or whichever version works best for you. When you click *Open in Customizer*, the initial settings are the ones that were used for the attached .stl file. It would be great if you'd share your creations! I think awesome things can be made by cutting tubing to precise angles. If you make something cool using the jig, please post it too!
