I was searching for a replacement clip for my Pioneer car stereo microphone when I discovered that designing and printing a clone of the original clip would be a viable solution. My biggest challenge was finding a way to attach the sphere of the microphone to the clip without compromising its integrity, as the original attachment design is too weak and prone to breaking when the sphere is inserted. To overcome this hurdle, I had to print the clip in a specific orientation, following the image provided, in order to prevent the small teeth from becoming deformed or unusable during the printing process. After printing, it's essential to be mindful of not tightening the nut on the clip completely without first inserting the sphere, as this can cause the teeth to break. Update 08/03/2020: I experimented with printing in PETG, which offered more flexibility and allowed me to recreate the original clip design with greater accuracy. However, this required adjusting the design to incorporate a screw and nut combination that is both thinner and more delicate than the original. Unfortunately, this revised design necessitates extensive support during the printing process due to its vertical orientation. I have since created an alternative clip design that closely replicates the original Pioneer clip but with a fixed attachment directly connected to the clip, eliminating the need for a removable base.
