The First In A Line Of Pinky The Whale Jewelry Pieces Pinky the Whale is a thought-provoking initiative that began in London in 2012, with a mission to teach children to celebrate diversity, foster imagination, and help others. Children who learn with individuality and creativity are what these six women aim to achieve. Pinky's adventures inspire her creative endeavors, as do the "Pinky the Whale" books. This series follows a pink whale named Pinky, who faces her fears of being different and becomes brave in the process. Every year, Pinky teams up with schools, galleries, museums, and artists for workshops, exhibitions, readings, and fundraisers that benefit charities for children. Workshop fees stay free thanks to fundraising proceeds. My Ultimaker 2 prints Pinky characters at a 0.6mm resolution using Faberdashery's Punk Star Pink PLA material. http://www.faberdashery.co.uk/products-page/print-materials/punk-star-pink/. The design features the original Pinksie model and the cufflink from CKB Ltd, purchased from a UK supplier. Some glue later and I had beautiful creations! Printing with an Ultimaker 2 proved successful due to my high-quality prints using zero support or rafts at 0.1mm or finer resolutions. What's next? A brooch, maybe some pendants for necklaces? Take note that cufflinks require a 10mm base plate available from CKB Ltd: http://www.ckb.uk.com/pack-of-10-5-pairs-10mm-plate---blank-cufflink-backs-4139-p.asp. Use epoxy type glue for mounting and to ensure they are securely in place.
