The Atlantic coast is home to the largest population of pink salmon, but they can be found in smaller numbers along other ocean shores worldwide. This prolific fish species produces two million metric tons of salmon every year alone. Known scientifically as Oncorhynchus gorbuscha, these silver-coated fish have a unique spot pattern on their back that makes them highly recognizable to fisheries managers.
