Pinhole Solar Eclipse Viewer v2 (longer, 2-piece)

Pinhole Solar Eclipse Viewer v2 (longer, 2-piece)

thingiverse

Longer pinhole solar eclipse viewer, assembled from two identical parts that can be printed on a small bed. This design builds upon the previous version at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2463404. SCAD and STL files are included for printing. The SCAD file shows one piece, while the STL file has two identical pieces to print together. Assembly is required after printing, as seen in the post-print instructions. To use the viewer, point it at the sun with the hole (drilled or poked) facing towards it. Line up the bright dot on the flat surface at the other end. During a partial solar eclipse, the dot will be partially obscured by the moon, creating a crescent shape instead of a round dot. If you are lucky enough to view an eclipse within the path of totality, you should see a faint image of the sun's corona during a total eclipse. JPG image files show separate parts, one piece with a hole, an assembled viewer, and a viewer in use on a late morning full sun (several weeks before the 2017 eclipse).
