Pinewood Derby Weight Drilling Jig
thingiverse
This drilling jig is designed to assist in guiding drill holes for adding tungsten weights to the bottom of a pinewood derby car. By default, it's set up for 3/8" diameter weights and positions them on either side of the shorter axle length on the block. You can use the tool to drill one or three holes in front of the axle and optionally do the same behind if additional weight is needed. On our son's car, we drilled three holes in front and one behind. To ensure alignment with the axle channel on your block, use the slot provided. Then, clamp it securely to the body. Apply tape to your drill bit once you've determined the required depth for the number of weights being added and the jig's design. If you prefer a custom setup or need to flip your car backwards, adjust the axelDistFromRear measurement to meet your specific needs.
