Pinewood Derby Car Violin

We crafted a unique pinewood derby car inspired by a violin, working together with my son to design it using 123d, Inkscape, and Viacad software. After finalizing the design in Viacad, we cut the block of wood according to our plan. We imported images of a violin into Viacad, tracing and extruding its body and scroll into 3D. Subtracting the block of wood, we ensured a proper fit for the violin on the car. Scrap filament was used to create the violin strings, while f-holes and pegs were glued on. The car body was stained, and printing occurred on a Printrbot Plus using gold and black 3mm ABS with a design from Viacad.
