Pinewood Derby Car (Fictional Model) cnc
thingiverse
This fictional car model bears an uncanny resemblance to a Rallye car, boasting a design that diverges significantly from my previous creations, as it's a fully realized 3D object rather than a stacked assembly of slices. I aimed to push the limits of Fusion360's 'Sculpt' functionality, which shares some similarities with digital clay but places greater emphasis on technical design compared to Sculptris, a program I employed for crafting my Toothbrush Stand „The Snout“. I relied on my Sorotec Basicline CNC machine to precision mill the car body from a single solid block of wood. Initially, I attempted to work with planks of pinewood joined together by glue, while another iteration was crafted from Eucalyptus. Despite operating a rigid machine, I confess that fabricating these types of models leaves me underwhelmed due to their protracted creation time, which fails to justify the end result when compared to other designs.
