Pinewood Derby Body - El Camino

Pinewood Derby Body - El Camino

My kid has been eager to own a cool car for the year, and he's absolutely nuts about El Caminos. While browsing online, I came across this awesome model that can be modified to fit perfectly onto a pinewood block. To make it work, you'll need to cut the block down to 10mm thick and 154mm long - but don't forget to get the front-centering of the wheels spot on! I've attached an image that shows the simple size layout in case you need a reference. I'm planning to leave some extra wood at the back and sand down the front and side edges for a smoother finish. You can see how the fancy block compares to the simple one in the attached image. According to my calculations, printing this model without supports should use around 64g of material - which is roughly equivalent to 2.25oz. Once I've completed the print and cut out the wood, we'll be able to weigh it accurately. After that, it's all up to my kid to assemble and paint his new ride. I've included my Cura profile below for anyone who wants to give this project a try.
