Pinewood Derby Axle Drilling Template
thingiverse
This is a drilling template designed specifically for pinewood derby car blocks. Drilling with a #44 bit proves to be more effective than using standard cut slots, which can make alignment of wheels challenging and difficult to maintain. This template eliminates worries about inaccurately placing drill holes. There are designated holes for standard positions as well as extended wheelbases. Simply insert the block, drill, and remove it with ease. On my print, the block fits tightly, but some users may need to sand the inside slightly depending on their printer's specifications. The v2 file includes wider sides around the holes, which can assist in drilling straight lines. Version 3 extends the inner dimensions by 1/64", providing a solution for blocks that are slightly larger or have variations due to different printers. This update was suggested by heatvent (https://www.thingiverse.com/heatvent). Version 4 adds a central hole, reducing material usage and allowing tight blocks to be pushed out from the bottom with ease.
