Push the corresponding key with the lock on it. A rectangular iron structure with a matching semicircular handle key is suitable for this purpose. Operational. Typical Balaton cellar door, installed the locking mechanism inside the door, from outside only the keyhole and occasionally the cylinder were visible. There was no handle, the door opened by turning the key. Origin: Balaton region. Era: Early 19th-20th century. You could usually enter the Balaton cellars through a thick oak door, often with large, cunningly opening locks on them. The wine stored in the cellar was considered to be of great value, so they carefully locked it and kept an eye on it, making sure that no unauthorized hand got hold of the key. (While they hardly or not at all took care of locking their houses in the village.) The unique locking mechanisms were usually made by local blacksmiths.
