Combining my latest passions; lockpicking and 3D modeling I present a basic pin tumbler lock design with an open side cut for showcasing its operation. This is purely for demonstrating the operation and there's no latch at the end of the plug to attach it to something or anything else. It can be picked, but I strongly recommend using very light tension due to thin chamber walls on the exposed cut area. Additionally, because of layers, all the pins behave like serrated security pins unless you smooth them out. I printed the plug and housing from PLA with 0.2mm layer height, 10% infill and two perimeters, utilizing slic3r automatic supports. The driver pins and key pins are best to be printed with thinner layers (0.1mm). The springs I used were taken from ballpoint pens; I cut one spring in half to get the correct height springs for two chambers. No key is provided; arrange the key pins however you prefer and create your own.
