LATEST VERSION: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/9foGm6wlZGj REMIXES ARE VERY WELCOME! Designed to clamp securely to the corner of the plate under the heated bed so that PLA won't melt. Not compatible with other i3 printers unless you have the same size or smaller thumbscrews as the i3 Plus and a 2mm thick plate under the bed. Old version photographed; new version has a simpler camera mount clip for easy printing. V2 now also features a different plate clamp and longer beam. Camera and acrylic clip:https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-camera-module-v2-1-with-mount Longer camera cable:https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/raspberry-pi-camera-cable Adjusting the camera's focus distance:https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46637&p=366719 You will need M3 nuts and screws. There is enough space around the screw hole for a spacer or those screws designed for PC motherboard mounting (see photo 2). The camera mount clip is very snug - you might have to squeeze it a little with pliers to soften it up. It's very stable and once you get the angle right, it's great for timelapses and remote control with OctoPrint. SEE ALSO: If you don't have a Pimoroni mount and/or don't want to buy one, you might be interested in this remix from ChrisMayhew :)http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1957031 Print Settings Printer: WANHAO Duplicator i3 Plus Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm for the camera clip Infill: Use best judgement Notes: I didn't use rafts, but you might need them if you don't have a really good surface (Print Bite FTW). I found that an 8mm long M3 screw with a metal washer and nyloc nut provides the best joint at each end of the beam. V2 beam attaches directly to the clamp, without a nut (washer recommended) I'm very new to 3D printing so any advice is gratefully received! How I Designed This This thing was made with Tinkercad. Get the newest version or edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/9foGm6wlZGj The plate clamp (large part) is designed to print upside down! Plate clamp v1.1 now prints on its side, requires supports, not tested. You might want to mirror it for the other side of your printer. New plate clamp (v2) and a longer beam because it's really awkward having the clip around the thumbscrew close enough that the extruder carriage assembly sometimes knocks it loose. This version is compatible with practically any 2mm thick metal plate, but it might be a tiny bit too tight with rigid PLA. The beam requires an M3 screw (no nut) which has a 6mm wide head (I have 6.05mm, will test very soon)
