This is designed for small Pilot-brand dashboard cameras. It allows you to mount it on a surface, either standing upright or upside down, with the controls facing upwards for easy viewing and timestamping. It will work for any camera that fits within a square shape (approximately 2-1/2 inches wide, 2-3/4 inches high) and features a 16-17mm ball and a 5/8 inch (approximately 16mm) slot-type camera mount. The standard ball size is reportedly 17mm, but mine measures closer to 16mm, so I'm uncertain. I created this as an inexpensive security camera attachment that can be connected to a battery pack for recording footage.
