I often take my Dell Latitude e7450 into bed or place it on top of a pillow while sitting in a recliner. When I do, the unit heats up rapidly because airflow is blocked and the laptop doesn't cool properly. This vent cover attaches securely to the docking station boss indents with a friction fit, providing a larger channel for airflow than the vent slots on the left side of the e7450. As a result, it acts as a snorkel, creating a path for fresh air from the back edge of the laptop to the intake vents on the bottom. This setup works well, but it's not a complete solution for using the e7450 with it running on top of a pillow or blanket. It's still essential to be aware of how hot the left side exhaust gets and use accordingly. By the way, I added two adhesive-backed rubber bumpers to the bottom of the snorkel to tip the laptop up in the rear when using it on a desk or hard surface. I deliberately chose not to angle the vent to avoid lessening airflow and kept the duct parallel to the bottom of the laptop. This made it sit entirely on the snorkel, but also caused it to slide on hard surfaces. Adding the rubber bumpers tips it up enough for the front rubber feet that are part of the e7450 to grab the desktop and prevent it from sliding around. The version uploaded is V3, which features cutouts to allow use of the HDMI and USB ports on the back edge of the laptop.
